Peeky was found as a stray in the rural south. She was found to have some old injuries to her right back limb/hip and her right front limb. She underwent successful surgery to repair her hip. Her front limb and paw were found to have some nerve issues, but surgery was not needed. She has been attending physical therapy for strengthening and she has regained muscle tone and full use of her back leg, but she still walks with a little limp of her right front leg. We affectionately call it her “funky arm” and she likes to present it when meeting new people.
A daily joint supplement for the remainder of her life is recommended. Continued therapy would be helpful to keep her strong and her joints moving well, but isn’t a requirement as long as she has an active-for-her-ability lifestyle.
Peeky is a vocal gal, but doesn’t bark incessantly. She just likes to talk. She is dog tolerant and will play with other dogs, but she requires very slow introductions and some time to get acquainted with a new playmate. She will let them know if a new friend is being too assertive too quickly, so any canine she interacts with must be well versed in interpreting doggie cues.
This girl absolutely loves people and just adores to be loved on and brushed. She is always eager to show her tummy in hopes that it will get some rubs. She also loves walks and does remarkably well on the leash.
Due to her occasional quirks and her injuries, it would be best that she be in an adult home where there would be an understanding of both. .
Peeky is an amazing dog that was not deserving of what she was dealt in her young life. She will flourish in a home that will guide her to be the best dog that she can be. And believe us, her best is truly delightful.
