Code

Code can hear you talking about him! How could he not?

Code is an energetic, 5-month-old Shepherd mix ready to become the newest member of your family. He’s all ears and energy, and he is developing into the perfect Good Boy. It is likely his ears will fall a bit as he gets older, but look at him now!

Code was abandoned as a very tiny puppy, and some good Samaritans rescued him and brought him into their home. Now, their lives have changed, and this energetic, good-natured boy is looking for his forever home.

Code loves to walk with his people, and he is great in the car. His favorite thing to do is to play ball. He takes a minute to get comfortable with other dogs, but he warms up fast and loves to play. He adored his 12-year-old sister in his first home, so we think he can do well in a home with dog savvy children too.

With all puppies, housetraining is a work in progress, but Code is smart and getting better every day. He is crate trained, so continued use of the crate can help when his new family needs to run errands or be out of the house. He does need to be bribed into the crate with a treat, but he’s pretty content in there for short periods of time. He’s only had accidents in his crate when left there for 6 hours (which is a LONG time for a puppy in a crate).

He doesn’t seem to be a big flight risk, as he prefers to be with his humans, but any puppy should be closely monitored. As with all puppies, we ask families to commit to taking Code through Basic Obedience so he has the tools to do as you would like him too. We can’t expect manners from any dog who isn’t shown what those manners look like!

A fenced in yard would be nice for him, since he loves to play ball, and running around is a good way for a puppy to get out all his energy, but it isn’t a requirement. Remember that all puppies need LOTS of exercise in order to be happy, so without a safe yard to run in, he will need lots of walks. Fortunately, he really loves meeting new friends on his walks, so he will enjoy all the time you can give him!

While we don’t have all of Code’s history, we do know that he has been loved just about every day of his life. He is happy and energetic and eager to please his people. With established routine, positive obedience training, and consistency in the home, this little shepherd is going to be an excellent addition to almost any family!

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
