Handsome chocolate boy with a girls name…oops!!

Aubrey (AKA Topher) is an energetic, happy dog with a LOT of personality. He is active, goofy, gentle and adorable!!!
He loves treats (always a plus for training!), playing fetch and does adorable wiggle jumps when excited. And he has the cutest smile!! You can tell he just wants to be your best friend.

Aubrey will need a family that has the patience to let him come out of his shell on his own terms. He tends to be very shy around new people and it took a little while for his true personality to shine. His past life was not a very good one as he was rescued from hoarding situation where all the dogs on the property lived outside in a small pen with no shelter and very minimal human contact.

This boy loves other dogs. He warmed up to his foster family much more after he was introduced to his foster siblings. And he definitely will pick a favorite friend if you have multiple dogs. Aubrey is also good with kids, but may topple over small toddlers due to his exuberance and not realizing he weighs 60 pounds!!

Aubrey will crate with a little butt push (or cookie). He is crated when no one is home, as he still does not realize what is a doggie toy as opposed to a household item, but he is getting there. He does have the cutest quirk of just holding things in his mouth and walking around the house with them without chewing.
This boy will bark very loudly when he needs to go outside to potty, but still needs to be routinely taken outside for reinforcement.
He does OK on a leash- still needs some work. He does not like walking past strangers while leashed, and presently ignores other dogs when he is leashed.

Aubrey is truly a special boy if given the time and patience to blossom into his true self.
His initial shyness and skittish behavior isn’t a fair assessment of who he is. Once he opens up he is an active, loyal, sweet, loving, and all around silly boy that would be an amazing addition to any family. Perhaps yours?
