Our Transport Team
We
simply could not do what we do without the exceptional help of Pam and
Kyle's Peterson's Express Transport Service or Betty Danley's Go
Transporters service. As someone who has done a volunteer transport once
from Memphis to Portsmouth, I am simply in awe of these guys! They are
wonderful to our dogs and we trust them implicitly to get them here
safe.. Please visit their websites to see pictures of the RVs used to
bring so many to safety!
Our Veterinarian
Like
any rescue group, PAWS strongly advocates the spay and neuter of each
and every dog. All dogs over the age of four months will arrive altered
unless there are specific medical counter-indications. Adopters of
puppies, must sign this spay/ neuter contract before adopting a dog. We
will follow up with adopters when appropriate to make sure that spay/
neuter has been performed:
PAWS
would especially like to thank Dr. Norman Stillman, whom, without his
help, we would not exist. Dr. Stillman has been instrumental in the
veterinary care of many of the dogs that have come and has graciously
agreed to continue the final treatment for the dogs that are heartworm
positive. He has pioneered a collaboration with the Hillcrest Animal
Hospital in Memphis that allows for us to bring the dogs that are
heartworm positive into their permanent homes and rest comfortably
before receiving their final shot. Had it not been for Dr. Stillman,
these dogs would need to be boarded at Hillcrest for four weeks during
their treatment or put to sleep. He is truly a fundamental part of our
mission!
